About the Subject –
UGC NET Paper 1

UGC NET Paper 1 is a mandatory paper for all candidates, regardless of their chosen subject in Paper 2. It tests teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, general awareness, and higher education systems in India. The exam is designed to assess your ability to teach and conduct research effectively at the college or university level.

Qualification & Eligibility Criteria

While UGC NET Paper 1 is common for all aspirants, you must also meet the eligibility criteria for the overall UGC NET exam:

Educational Qualification:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in relevant subjects.
- PG Final year students also can apply,

Minimum Marks Required:
- General/Unreserved: 55%
- SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Transgender: 50%

Age Limit:
- For JRF: Maximum age 30 years (relaxation applicable)
- For Assistant Professor: No upper age limit
- For PhD only: No upper age limit
